(All Districts) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee,to execute a contract amendment with Fehr& Peers Transportation Consultants, to extend the term from February 28, 2007 to February 28, 2008, for continued on-call traffic engineering consultant services Countywide. (All Districts) FISCAL IMPACT: The contract cost of$150,000 is not changing as part of this amendment. Since this is an on-call contract, funding sources are project specific. There will be no impact to the General Fund. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND: In 2005,the County successfully negotiated with Fehr&Peers Transportation Consultants to provide on-call traffic engineering consultant services to the Public Works Department. Their professional on-call services were required due to Department staff changes and increases in traffic engineering projects. Fehr & Peers Transportation Consultants was contracted to review,analyze,and resolve traffic related issues and to facilitate traffic signal design work throughout the County. (All Districts) DATE: February 27, 2007 PAGE: 2 of 2 Since the original contract was executed two years ago,multiple projects within Public Works began using Fehr& Peers Transportation Consultants to provide on-call traffic engineering services. In order to allow these projects to continue without disruption,the contract is being extended for one year. No increase in the contract amount is being sought. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the contract amendment is not approved with Fehr&Peers Transportation Consultants,projects currently utilizing their professional services will experiences disruptions and delays as they solicit for new professional services.
