HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02132007 - PR.3 IN THE MATTER OF HONORING DANNA FABELLA RESOLUTION NO. 2007/34 ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT WHEREAS,Danna Fabella joined Contra Costa County in 1994 as the Assistant Agency Director of the Services Bureau overseeing Child Welfare,Adult Services and Aging programs, and later became the Children and Family Services Bureau Director responsible for child welfare services; and WHEREAS,Danna's leadership,integrity.and commitment to service excellence increased performance and accountability and improved the overall Child Welfare Performance Outcomes in Contra Costa County;and WHEREAS,Danna has devoted the majority of her professional career to the field of child welfare and demonstrated a passionate commitment to ensuring the safety and well being of children and families here in Contra Costa County and throughout thenatlone Shehas provided her leadership on such groups"as First 5 Contra Costa, the System of,Care Policy{Council, the AdvisoryBoard of the Child and Family Policy Institute .of California, the Children'sC;ornmittee of the Clvld'Welfare Directors'Association, the Executive Committee of the American Public Humari"Services Association, and other organizations too numerous to mention; and �. WHEREAS, under Donna's leadership and guidance, Contra Costa County has developed and implemented a vast array of innovative programs serving children and families including-the Children's,Interview Center, the Independent Living"Skills Transitional Housing Program for emancipating foster youth,Kinship and Shared Family Care,Receiving:Centers, and Welcome'Home Baby, ands, d° WHEREAS,Danna,h_as-been and continues tobe a leader-at-both local and state levels in the design and implementation of numerous new service delivery models such as Concurrei-.it Planning,;Family to Family Initiative/Team Decisi6ii Making,and Child Welfare Redesign%Drfferenttal Response that were created to improve the,wellbeing of children in the"fosteh�care system,and [ c F.f WHEREAS �Danna's:leadership ofChild>en and Family Services forged strong collaborattye relltionships with other County`depai tnents including local law enforcement-agencies,"Alcohol and Other Drug Services,Juvenile Probation,Family Court,Pubic' ___cdlth, Children's Mental I ealth,Countl7 Office of Education, and local communtty colleges,,among others;and WHEREAS,Danna always strived to improve-issues ofIfairness and�equify by enhancing the"cultural competence of all child welfare staff;by initiating open dialogue and providinga comprehensiveser `s of trainings on cultural competence and disproportionality;and z w; WHEREAS,Danna°.received special recognition for her,work```in 2005w6om, sta County Board of Supervisors,Affirinadv'e Action Program;an :F WHEREAS,Danna served as the I'nterun;Director of the Employment and"Human Services Department in 2006 and provided exemplary leadership during a critical period of"transition; and WHEREAS,Danna has most recendy served in,�the County,Admirnstrator's Office as the first Director of the Office of Children's Services creating the blueprint'-for a countywide-strategy to increase the overall coordination of services for children across County departments and child-serving community- based organizations. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that .
