The current short notice coverage system is not as cost effective due to contract psychiatrist being more expensive and not always readily available because they work elsewhere, also locum tenens staffing companies may require a minimum number of shifts for short notice coverage which may not always be necessary. This patchwork coverage is not only very expensive, but prevents collaboration with other services, makes staff meetings impossible and provides these psychiatrics with little motivation to participate in quality improvement. This Contract will provide more adequate coverage and improve the quality, performance and compliance of the Inpatients Psychiatric Unit at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. i it I I.
