HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02132007 - C.74 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ` -- - Contra FROM: William Walker,M.D.,Health Services Director Costa By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator _ DATE: January 31; 2007 ` > County SUBJECT: Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement with#26=589 with California State University, Dominguez Hills SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith; M.D.)to execute on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement, #26-589 with California State University, Dominguez Hills,to provide supervised clinical and field experience for the Contractor's medical students, for the period from February 1, 2007 through January 31, 2010. FISCAL IMPACT• None. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor's medical students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with application skills and attitudes at progressively higher levels of performance requirements and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both the educational and professional preparation. Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time,taking advantage of the students' services to patients. Approval of this Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-589 will allow students to receive supervised clinical experience through January 31, 2010.
