SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or
designee, to issue a Request for Proposal (#1091) for transportation services to
California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CaIWORKs) participants in the
amount of $381,563 for the period July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$381,563: CalWORKs Funding (85% Federal; 15% County)
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This contract supports all of the community outcomes established in the Children's
Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in Scho 1"; 2) "Children and

"Communities that are Safe and'Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and
Families," by providing transportation services to CaIWORKs recipients for employment
and training.
BACKGROUND:
Contracts will provide employment related bus transportation services to California
Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CaIWORKs) participants and their
children. The Children's Transportation Project (CTP), a custom route-based service,
delivers door-to-door transportation to and from daycare and school for the infant to
high school aged children of CaIWORKs participants thereby removing primary barriers
to employment and employment retention.
