SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION(S):
Correct the Board Order which was approved by the Board of Supervisors on August 8, 2006, (C.47)
with Jackson& Coker LocumTenens, LLC, a corporation, to reflect the intent of the parties in which
to change the Payment Limit from an amount not to exceed $54,000 to $40,000, to provide
recruitment services and temporary Psychiatry Registry services to the Mental Health Division
Outpatient Clinics and to change the term of the Contract from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007 to
a new term of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100%by Mental Health Realignment. Cost is offset by the non-renewal of a
contract with another Temporary Help Firm Registry Contract.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
,For several years, the County has contracted with registries to provide temporary Psychiatrist to
assist the Mental Health Division during peak loads, temporary absences, and emergency situations.
There continues to be a nationwide shortage, and in spite of persistent efforts to recruit Psychiatrist
and other healthcare staff, the Department has experienced difficulty in filling vacant positions.
Therefore, the Department has had to rely heavily on the registry services in order to provide quality
care for patients.
On August 8, 2006, the Board of Supervisor approved Contract 474-277 with Jackson & Coker
LocumTenens, LLC to provide temporary Psychiatric registry services to the Mental Health
Division Outpatient Clinics, for the period from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007.

Approval of this Board Order will correct the effective date of the Contract to read January 1,
2007 through December 31, 2007 and change the Payment Limit to read $40,000, thereby
allowing the Contractor to provide temporary Psychiatric registry coverage and recruitment
services to the Mental Health Division Outpatient Clinics, to cover vacations, sick leave, and
extended leaves of County-employed Psychiatrist, through December 31, 2007.
