SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATIONS)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATIONS :
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith, M.D.) to accept
an amount not to exceed $40,000, from Kaiser Permanente, Department of Research, for the
Collaborative on Substance Abuse and Health Disparities (CSAHD) Project, for the period from
December 1, 2006 through November 30, 2007.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Acceptance of this Grant Award will result in $40,000 from Kaiser Permanente, Department of
Research, for the CSAHD Project. No County funds are required.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
The goal of Richmond Health Center and Kaiser Permanente Collaborative on Substance Abuse
and Health Disparities (CSAHD) Project is to identify rates of alcohol and drug disorders and their
relationships to other medical and mental health problems. Approval of this Grant Award will allow
the County to conduct community-based research to understand health disparities at the Richmond
Health Center in West Contra Costa County.
Acceptance of Grant Award#29-675 will provide funding for the Collaborative on Substance Abuse
and Health Disparities Project, through November 30, 2007,
