FISCAL IMPACT: There is no cost associated with this action. BACKGROUND: The classification of Administrative Assistant I & II — ECCFPD was established by P300 #20181 on 12/1/06. This classification recognized the specialized clerical needs of the East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. The salaryof the Administrative Assistant I — ECCFPD was mirrored after the Clerk Experienced Level in the Merit System and the Administrative Assistant II - ECCFPD was mirrored after the Merit System classification of Secretary — Advance Level. This class series was established because a desk audit was conducted on the clerical positions and one of the positions has recently been vacated and the Department intends to fill the position using the,corrected classification. The salary levels for these positions were determined by reviewing similar Contra Costa. County clerical positions and looking at internal compaction issues. WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors adopted P-300 # 20181 on 12/1/06 establishing the classifications of Administrative Assistant I and Administrative Assistant II — ECCFPD; and WHEREAS there is a need to maintain a salary relationship between Administrative Assistant I — ECCFPD and the Merit System classification of Clerk — Experienced Level and Administrative Assistant II — ECCFPD with the Merit System classification of Secretary—Advance Level; NOW THEREFORE: THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS in its capacity as governing Board of the County of Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-officio governing Board RESOLVES THAT: the salary of the classification Administrative Assistant I — ECCFPD (non-merit) is tied to the salary of Clerk Experienced Level in the Merit System and Administrative Assistant II — ECCFPD (non-merit) is tied to the salary of Secretary—Advance Level in the Merit System. These positions shall be eligible for all salary increases and benefits, including participation in the County's group health/dental plans, of the same type and at the same levels as those available to employees in the County merit system classifications.
