SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution #20242 to INCREASE HOURS of one (1) Registered Nurse
Experienced Level (VWXD-Represented) position #11819 and six (6) Registered Nurse Advanced Level
(VWXE-Represented) positions #8062, #8064, #9400, #9408, #11800, and #11817 in accordance with the
MOU between Contra Costa County and the California Nurses Association.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The Health Services Department has estimated an annual cost of$145,519.40 with this request and is offset
by Mental Health Realignment funding. There are no net County cost.
BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department is requesting to increase the hours of one (1) Registered Nurse Experienced
Level position #11819 and six (6) Registered Nurse Advanced Level positions #8062, #8064, #9400, #9408,
#11800, and #11817.
The hours of these positions are being increased in accordance with the agreement between the County and
the California Nurses Association during the meet and confer process over the closure of the In-Patient
Psychiatric Unit (4D) at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. The closure and subsequent reorganization
allowed for an allocation of additional clinic based nurse hours throughout the County.
The increase in hours will enable Health Services to provide enhanced psychiatric services to a variety of out-
patient specialty areas including Mental Health Case Management Teams, Mental Health Wellness Teams,
and Geriatric Psychiatric Outreach Services.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted,the County will be out of compliance with the California Nurses Association
agreement.
