FINANCIAL IMPACT There is no financial impact associated with approval'-of recommended action. BACKGROUND Section 1108-2.212 of the County Ordinance Code authorizes the Purchasing Agent to dispose of any personal property belonging to Contra Costa County and found by the Board of Supervisors not to be required -for public use. The property for disposal is either obsolete, worn out, beyond economical repair, or damaged beyond repair. We request that your office proceed to have the attached list declared surplus by the Board of Supervisors and authorize the Fire District to dispose of these items. All in favor, motion carried. FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT— December 5, 2006 report reviewed. (A/C Grace answered questions in the absence of Chief Richter.) • Labor Negotiations with Local 1230 — Mediation sessions ongoing. • Firefighter Interviews — Second round of interviews have been completed. Hope to have an academy of approximately 26 recruits. Background checks are pending with medical and psych evaluations to follow. Paramedic Program build out should be completed in this recruitment. • Stations 84 and 85 (Pittsburg) Relocations — Some significant strides have occurred in the last couple of weeks and we are close to finalizing process with the City. • Station 16 (Lafayette) Relocation —Awaiting word from property owner on proposed parcel for this relocation. • Station 86 (Pittsburg) Relocation — Nothing new to report. • Station 83 (Antioch) Remodel — Major remodel is planned. Architect is working on plans. • Station 81 (Antioch) Remodel —Architect finalizing plans. • New CAD System — Modifications have not resolved all concerns with station alerting system. We will be purchasing a new system from Zetron at a cost of approximately $200,000. OLD BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: Declaration of Surplus Property— Report of October 2006 consists primarily of electronics and video equipment. Commissioner Granados made a motion to approve the surplus equipment list as provided, seconded by Commissioner Egan. All in favor, motion passed. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: Commissioner Haynes: None Commissioner Granados: • Reported that he had picked up his daughter and grandson from the airport today. His daughter has been a civilian employee of the Army working at the Pentagon for the past three years. Expressed great pride in the work she has done. Commissioner Egan: • Expressed concern over extended delays by PG&E when responding.to incidents. A/C Grace noted that this has been an ongoing problem.
