HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11062007 - C.83 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS �y_:------- FROM: William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director " COSta By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator DATE: October 22, 2007County o_TI SUBJECT: Approval of Novation Contract#24-778-16 with FamiliesFirst, Inc. —06u.� SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION RECOMNIENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Donna Wigand) to execute on behall�of the County, Novation Contract #24-778-16 with FamiliesFirst, Inc., a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed S400,000, to provide Day Treatment and Mental Health Services for Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED) Children, for the period from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2008, in an amount not to exceed $200,000. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 25% by Federal Med-Cal, 25% by State Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT), and 50% by individuals with Disabilities Education Act(IDEA/SB 90) CHILDREN'S I IPAC'f STATENIENT: This SB 90 program supports the following Board of Supervisors' community outcomes: "Children Ready For and Succeeding in School"; "Families that are. Safe, Stable, and Nurturing"; and "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families". Expected program outcomes include an increase in positive social and emotional development as measured by the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS). BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides intensive day treatment, mental health services, medication support, and case management services for SED children at Mt. Diablo High School to reduce the need for out-of-home placements. On December 5, 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #24-778-15 with FamiliesFirst, Inc., for the period from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007, with a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2007, for the provision of Day Treatment and Mental Health Services for SED Children.
