I i FISCAL IMPACT: This action, is 100% funded by the state and is within the department's budget. I BACKGROUND: Staff has reviewed the request and surveyed seven (I7) counties that were similar in size, workforce and geographical proximity. The counties that have the same or similar classification are: Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo and Sacramento. The counties of Marin, Solano.and Sonoma were also contacted;' however, the span of control and the scope and complexity of work is not commensurate with Contra Costa County. I Contra Costa County ranked 4th among Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo and Sacramento. Based, on the, salary results, staff has determined that a 7% increase is warranted. With the implementation of a 7% increase, Contra Costa County will be ranked 3rd among the above bay area counties. I I CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the classification of Child Support Services Manager will not receive appropriate compensation.
