SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution #20132 to ESTABLISH the classification of Mental Health Employment
Placement Specialist (VQSG- Represented); ADD three full-time positions, and ALLOCATE the classification
to the salary schedule.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with this request is $251,070 annually and is offset through elimination of three contracts
which are funded through the State Department of Rehabilitation.
BACKGROUND:
The Mental Health Division has provided vocational services to clients since 1995. The Vocational Services
Program hasi grown significantly over the years and currently serves approximately 300 clients. Further, the
Division has expanded their contract with the State Department of Rehabilitation in order to provide additional
services. Vocational Services and supports, along with housing supports, continue to be an increasing priority
for the Mental Health Division: Providing both vocational ad housing services to consumers assists in the
prevention ofilong-term care.
Overall, the Employment Placement Specialist classification will provide employment placement services to
include job development, job placement, support services and report to the Mental Health Vocational Services
Coordinator-Project.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the Mental Health Division will continue to utilize contract employees for
their Vocational Services Program to meet the needs of their clients.
