FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of this action has already been calculated in P300 #20080 and is a cost savings. BACKGROUND: This P300 originally went before the board on October I3, 2006, however, a portion of the language was not included. The original P300 established the classification of Assistant Facilities Maintenance Manager, but left out the correct salary plan and did not add the position: The Assistant Facilities Maintenance Manager is a critical part of the re-organization of the Facilities Division and the adding of this position was accidentally left off. This P-300 will correct the oversight made by staff. As a result of adding the Custodial Division to Facilities, staff in this Division will increase to 165 employees. In order to alleviate some supervisory responsibilities from the Facilities Maintenance. Manager, Staff recommends establishing and adding an Assistant Facilities Maintenance Manager. This position will be responsible for directly supervising the work of Stationary Engineers and two General Services Facilities Supervisors, developing and implementing a preventative maintenance program, monitoring the new automated work systemsi, planning small remodeling and construction projects, and assisting in all management responsibilities for the Division. A salary survey was conductedland after an analysis of the external market,and a review of internal compaction issues, the salary i(located for this classification is appropriate for the duties it is responsible to perform. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Should this request not be granted, a decrease in efficiency will occur in the Facilities Divisions of General Services.
