I I I I FINANCIAL IMPACT: I I I I The financial impact of this Board Order recognizes additional claimed expenses drawn against the State Medi- Cal revenues. No additional County General Funds required. I � BACKGROUND: I I Implementation of the CaIWIN System created unexpected casework and case review. State performance reviews and audits have added to the Department's workload.I Several Department wide workgroups have determined that existing case carrying workers cannot assumeithe additional workload. To avoid fiscal sanctions and!loss of funding, the Department is establishing a Special Projects Unit. In a review of existing staffing, two (2)Medi-Cal Program Assistants are needed to complete the Special Projects staff. I i CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: I I If this action is not approved, it will result in insufficient staff�to insure correct eligibility and benefit determinations.
