RECOMMENDATION
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase one 1250 GPM
Pumper Fire Engine for the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The estimated purchase cost for the 1250 GPM Pumper Fire Engine is $411,732, which will be paid
for with developer funds.
BACKGROUND
Shea Homes is developing property in the Bethel Island area and is funding the purchase of one
1250 GPM Pumper Fire Engine and associated equipment as required by the Conditions of Approval-
Summer Lakes (formerly Cypress Lakes) for the development.
In accordance with Administrative Bulletin No. 508: "County Vehicle and Equipment Acquisition and
Replacement Policy with Guidelines," approval is requested for the purchase of the vehicle. Based
on a review of the need for the new vehicle and consideration of alternative fueled vehicles, the Fleet
Manager recommends approval of this request. This request has been reviewed and approved by the
County Administrator for consideration by the Board of Supervisors.
