In accordance with the MOU described above, the County received $4.1 million for the sale of the old
Veterans memorial buildings in the cities of Lafayette and Walnut Creek to the respective
redevelopment agencies of those cities.! That amount was deposited into the County's General Fund
in April 2006. The MOU also provided that the Lafayette Redevelopment Agency would acquire
additional land and construct a new Lafayette Veterans Memorial Building, and then transfer the
property to the County after construction of the new building was completed. The MOU further
specified that the County would contribute no more than $2,330,000 to the construction of the new
Lafayette Veterans Memorial building. The building was completed in September 2005, and title to
the property transferred to the Countyi in May 2006. The County's payment of $2,330,000 to the
Lafayette Redevelopment Agency is obligated under the terms of the MOU and will be the final Board
