Y� q Pigg, DATE: October 30 2006 CQUrIt CUUN, SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement#23-187-7 with The Abaris Group SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services .Director, or his designee (Art Lathrop) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #23-187-7 with The Abaris Group, a non-profit corporation, effective November 1, 2006, to amend Contract #23-1.87-5 (as amended by Extension Agreement #23-187-6), to increase the payment limit by $80,000, from 550,000 to a new payment limit of$130,000, with no change in the term of October 1, 2005 through August 31, 2007. FISCAL IMPACT: This Amendment is funded 94% by the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration Bioterrorism Hospital Preparedness Grant and 6% by California Measure H Funds. No County funds are required. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): Contra Costa County has been the recipient of Federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bioterrorism Hospital Preparedness, local assistance grants funded, through the California Department of Health Services for the past three years. Funding from these grants is intended to enhance the preparedness of hospitals and community clinics to respond to potential terrorist events and other disasters. On December 6, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #23-187-5 (as amended by Extension Agreement #23-187-6) with The Abaris Group, to provide specialized consulting services with regard to the development and implementation of the Department's Emergency ]Medical Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Grant Application, including, but not limited to assisting the EMS Division in developing and preparing a Project Work Plan to identify proposed expenditures and acquisitions of equipments and supplies needed in order to meet critical benclunarks of the HRSA grant, analyze and review steps required CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: YES SIGNATURE: COMMENDATION OF COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE I; APPROVEOTHER SIGNATURE (S): ACTION OF BOARO � �/ IBJ APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED/ OTHER VOTTEEOF SUPERVISORS / T I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THIS IS A TRUE /1 UNANIMOUS (ABSENT AND CORRECT COPY OF AN ACTION TAKEN AYES: NOES: AND ENTERED ON THE MINUTES OF THE BOARD ABSENT: ABSTAI : OF SUPERVISORS ON THE DATE SHOWN.
