SUBJECT: Position Adjustment Resolution #20146
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION : Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution #20146 adding 27 positions to the
Mental Health Division of the Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of this action will be completely covered by Proposition 63 funds (Mental
Health Services Act).
BACKGROUND: As a result of Proposition 63, the County is receiving funding for additional
personnel to staff new mental health programs. These mental health programs will assist both adults
who have been diagnosed with serious mental illnesses as well as children who have been
diagnosed with serious emotional disorders. In December of 2005, the Board of Supervisors adopted
the Community Supports and Services Implementation Plan which outlined the services to be
provided with the funds as well as the staffing requirements.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the Mental Health Division
will not be have the staff necessary to implement the new programs funded by Proposition 63.
