CONTRA ° FROM: Lori Gentles, Director of Human Resources '— ti . ^' P s COSTA DATE: October 3, 2006 COUNTY //,, rn ou K SUBJECT: Resolution 20060 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION Adopt Resolution 2006/ providing general salary increases for the attached list of non represented nursing management classifications. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of this action is approximately $405,241 annually and is within the Health Services Department's budget. BACKGROUND: Recently, the board approved, a new contract with the California Nurses Association which gave yearly cost of living increases. In order to avoid compaction issues as well as to sustain current differentials between CNA classifications and their supervisors and/or managers, it is necessary to give these increases to the unrepresented management nursing classifications. All unrepresented nursing classifications will be receiving a 7% salary increase on 10-1-06, and a 5% increase on 9-1-07. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the appropriate differentials between management classifications and their subordinates will be eroded, and, in some cases, the subordinate classes will be paid more than their supervisors.
