BACKGROUND: The Office of the Auditor-Controller is requesting this action due to a major reorganization of the department which resulted in division reassignments, promotions, and other recruitment activity. The reorganization resulted in the need for one Account Clerk-Experienced position in the contracts section of the GAAP division. Duties of the Account Clerk-Experienced position will include processing and auditing contracts for payments; analyzing encumbrances and verifying accuracy of balances; assisting department in maintaining accurate financial records; maintaining organized and updated records; handling inquiries and processing departmental requests for record adjustments and/or corrections; setting up and monitoring encumbrances for contracts;and tracking lease payments and assisting in preparing fiscal year-end schedules. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved, the Contracts Section in the Auditor-Controller's office will be under staffed and unable to adequately provide accurate processing of a variety of countywide contracts.
