DISTRICT 5 ARTS ORGANIZATION,
ARTS AND CULTURAL FOUNDATION
OF ANTIOCH
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County recognizes art passages: collections of art froin contra costa
countyis an exhibition program designed to create an opportunity for artists to show their work to
a larger public, to support the larger community's awareness of and familiarity with County artists,
and to form relationships with regional art.,organizations and to attract potential buyers for County
artists'work; and
WHEREAS, The Arts & Culture Commission of Contra''Costa County is.collaborating with local artists
who are associated with local arts organizations in order to present their,artwork; and
:
WHEREAS, the Arts and Cultural Foundation of Antioch (AC,FA) was°founded',in 2001 and is funded
throughthe City of Antioch TOT tax.and local,grants and is,dedicated to advancing the arts in a
way thaLoroinotes communication, education, appreciation, cultural diversity; and
wo
WHEREAS,AFCA provides visual-arts programs through the Historic-Lynn House Gallery,which
exhibits throughout the year presenting a wide apectrum of themes,media,.and styles,with an
emphasis on providing opportunities for local attsts, and

WHEREAS, Individual,artists";are "partrcipanng in the Arts acid Culture Coininrssion of Contra Costa
County (AC5)"sponsored art passages district s.exhibition, `EastACounty Artists"including:
Beth "Carvel,_Sylvia Colette Gehres,.Hermelinda Jimenez, £Patricia Haas, MaryX Negrete, Francis
Palermo;Mark Roberts Joei'Summerhill, Ken Tomlin, Sal Valencia, and Jeanne Diane Wallen.
NOW, THEREFORE,";BE;IT RESOLVED that the Board'of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
does hereby declare the above artists and the above arts"organization treasures of our county and
region, and:urges residents" to continue to support theartistic and 'creative,endeavors of these
individuals and this organization.
PASSED AND ADOPTED°on January 24 2006, by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.

MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
January 24, 2006
Chair Supervisor John Gioia convened the meeting of the Board of Supervisors this day at 9:03 a.m., in
the Board Chambers,Room 107, of the County Administration Building, 651 Pine Street,Martinez,
California. The Deputy Clerk called the roll, Supervisors present were:
Gayle Uilkema, District II
Mary N. Piepho,District III
Mark DeSaulnier,District IV
Supervisor Federal D. Glover,V
And Chair Supervisor John Gioia,District I
At 09:05 a.m. the Board of Supervisors adjourned to Closed Session. Following Closed Session,
the Board reconvened in its Chambers at approximately 09:30 a.m. There were no Closed
Session announcements. The Board then proceeded with their morning agenda items.
At approximately 12:00 p.m., the Board of Supervisors adjourned to Closed Session. At 1:20
p.m., the Board reconvened and the Chair advised there were no Closed Session announcements.
The Board adjourned at 1:20 p.m.
