FISCAL IMPACT: The annual cost associated with this action is $16,590.00, which will be financed by charges to users and revenue. BACKGROUND: The responsibilities of DoIT's Accounting unit have expanded to ensure they remain compliant with the proliferation of County mandates. The new Supervising Accountant position would be responsible for developing, analyzing, preparing and reviewing DoIT's nineteen million dollar budget as well as the supervision of the accounting staff which consists of an Accountant III, Accounting Technician, Account Clerk, and two (2) Senior-Level Clerks. Other duties and responsibilities would include: evaluating DoIT's accounting process, review and analyze work flow, develop and implement new systems and procedures, prepare and provide the CIO, ASO and senior management staff with an accurate analysis of financial reports, prepare evaluations, assign duties, and provide training for support staff, and administer and maintain numerous accounting systems used for customer billing, accounts payable, budgeting, and purchasing. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to add the Supervising Accountant position will result in a decrease of effectiveness for the Administration Division of DoIT.
