HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01172006 - C.45 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: William Walker,M.D.,Health Services Director ;' Contra By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator o"" s Costa DATE: January 6, 2006 County SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement#24-513-31 with New Connections SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Haven Feam) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement 924-513-31 with New Connections, a non-profit corporation, effective October 30, 2005, to amend Contract #24-513-30, to increase the Payment Limit by $40,000 from $613,369 to a new total Payment Limit of $653,369 for additional drug abuse prevention and treatment services with no change in the original term from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 61%by Federal Primary Prevention(NNA) and 39%by State Prop 36 funds. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This Alcohol and Drug Abuse prevention and treatment program supports the Board of Supervisors' "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing" and "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children andI Families" community outcomes by providing individual, group, and family counseling; substance abuse education; rehabilitation support services; and substance abuse prevention services. Expected outcomes include increased knowledge about the impact of addiction; decreased use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; increased use of community-based resources; and increased school and community support for youth and parents in recovery. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides specialized substance abuse treatment and prevention programs so that addicted youth are provided an opportunity to prevent or recover from the effects of alcohol or other drug use, become self sufficient, and return to their families as productive individuals. On August 16, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract 924--513-30 with New-Connections for the period from July 1, 2005 Ithrough June 30, 2006, for the provision of drug abuse prevention and treatment services at Contractor's facilities. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #24-513-31 will allow the Contractor to provide drug abuse prevention and treatment services to additional Prop 36 clients due to an increase in utilization, through June 30, 2006.
