BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
The Building Inspection Department has experienced a high level of
demand for services recently. The increase in demand is being generated
by both construction activity in the unincorporated areas of the County as
well as from the Department's contract cities. Some of the contract cities
such as the City of Walnut Creek have increased utilization of the
Department's services due to staffing issues and increased construction
activity within the City. The Department needs to augment the number of
Building Inspectors also due to additional work generated by the newest
contract city — the City of Antioch.
i
The Department is working With the Human Resources Department and is in
the process of creating new lists of positions in the Building Inspection
series. The contract positions will enable the Department to meet its
mission of serving the needs of customers in a timely fashion.
