SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION 91 I. RECOMMENDATION: TERMINATE the proclamation of a Public Emergency originally taken by the Board of Supervisors January 4, 2006 regarding the conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property as a result of severe storms December 31, 2005. Il. FINANCIAL IMPACT: NONE. All costs covered by State and Federal Funding III. BACKGROUND: The Proclamation of a Public Emergency has enabled Contra Costa County to request financial assistance from the State of California under the California Disaster Assistance act (Cal.Gov. Code §8680 et seq.) and from the Federal Government under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (P.L. 93-288, 100-107). DATE: February 22, 2006 PAGE: 2 of 2 REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND: As a result of the Proclamation of Public Emergency, the following action was taken By the Office of Emergency Services: Flood Mitigation Actions: Crews performed sandbagging in different areas throughout Contra Costa County. Emergency notification of Contra Costa County citizens activated. Emergency repair of roadways performed. Sand and sandbags replenished and made available at pickup locations for citizens use. After Flood Actions: Coordinate State and Federal Preliminary Damage Assessment teams. Provided assistance on assessing Public and Private damage to qualify for Federal and State Disaster Assistance. Coordinate and host Federal Disaster Recovery Centers and Applicant's Briefing. for Contra Costa County and nearby counties.
