HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02282006 - C.79 To: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS (�Gwr `✓� �� b C - 71 FROM: William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator Contra Costa DATE: February 13, 2006 `�s- ' v�4 County T'9 co SUBJECT: Approval of Contract#26-553 with California Nurses Foundation SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&.BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RF,COMMF,NDATiON(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, (Jeff Smith, M.D.) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #26-553 with California Nurses Foundation, a Non-Profit Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $40,000, to provide consultation and technical assistance with regard to implementing the Nurse Mentor and Nurse Preceptor Program at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006. FISCAT,IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise I Funds. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate,patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. BACKGROIJNDIRF,ASON(,S) FOR RECOMMENDATIONS: The goal of the Nurse Mentor and Nurse Preceptor Program at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers is to improve job satisfaction, training retention and patient care skills especially for newly-licensed nurses who are entering the Hospital setting for the first time and for nurses who are transitioning into high-stress or intensely complex units, such as Intensive Care, Emergency or Cardiac Units.
