HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02282006 - C.77 47 7 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS � FROM: William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director _j Contra By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator Costa HATE' February 13, 2006 County SUBJECT: Approval of Contract #26-281-1 with Terry Kupers, M.D. SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director,or his designee(Jeff Smith,M.D.)to execute on behalf of the County,Contract#26-281-1 with Terry Kupers,M.D., a self-employed individual,in an amount not to exceed $38,400,to provide consultation and training to the County's Main Detention Facility Mental Health Unit with regard to forensic psychiatry, for the period from February 1, 2006 through January 31, 2007. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100%by Enterprise I Budget. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate,patients and/or third-party payors will be billed for services. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): Under Contract#26-281-1,Terry Kupers,M.D.,will provide consultation and training to the County's Main Detention Facility Mental Health Unit with regard to forensic psychiatry including, but not limited to, providing consultation to Detention Mental Health Unit staff with regard to forensic psychiatry,expert witness training and minimizing litigation against jails,through January 31,2007.
