TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS tit L William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director FROM: By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator J Contra a. r Costa February 21 2006 '-`•�='=•=°- � DATE: y �a County SUBJECT: Approval of Contract#29-521-4 with First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RFC(IMMF,NDEDATiON(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Haven Fearn), to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #29-521-4 with First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $689,655, for the continuation of residential substance abuse services for pregnant and/or parenting women and their children, for the period from October 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. FISCAT, IMPACT-. Approval of this Agreement will result in $689,655 for FY 2005-2006 from First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission (Proposition 10 — Community Substance Abuse Services funds) for continuation of substance abuse services for women and children. No County funds are required. RAC'KGROUND/RFASON(S.) FOR RF.COMMFNnATIQN(S): Since 2001, this project has expanded and enhanced substance abuse services for women that are in the child welfare system and has provided 6 new residential treatment beds for women and their children. The project is an opportunity to address the specialized treatment needs of women, their infants and children involved with Children and Family Services. The goals of the project will continue to: have healthy children ready for schools by addressing their special treatment needs; provide on-going case management services for the mothers and their families from a multi-disciplinary team approach and reduce the wait list time for women in the child welfare system to enter residential treatment. Approval of this Agreement #29-521-4 will allow the project to continue and will not replace any existing project or program that is monitored by the County, through June 30, 2006. Three certified/sealed copies of this Board Order should be returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit.
