SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20042 to ADD one full-time Planner I and one (1) Senior
Planning Technician positions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with this action is approximately $58,068 annually and will be fully funded from
Land Use Development Application and Permit Fees (non-General Fund monies). Additionally, cost
will partially be off-set by the cancellation of a Planner Technician III position in March.
BACKGROUND:
This action is being requested by Community Development to provide professional planning and
technical support staff to the Current Planning Division. The Current Planning Division continues to
experience an increase in the number of land use development applications received. The Planner I
position will review land use development applications, gather information and compose staff reports,
make recommendations on findings to an assigned regional planning commission regarding
disposition of land development applications. Senior Planning Technician will provide lead direction
and technical planning support to assigned Planning Technicians in the Application Permit Center.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Insufficient professional planning and technical support staff to the Current Planning Division and
Application Permit Center.
