BACKGROUND:
Adult Interim Housing Program
There is continuing concern about the lack of emergency shelter services for homeless men and
women. With over 800 calls per month from men and women needing shelter, it is critical that
we maintain services at their current levels. FEMA funds would be instrumental in helping us
accomplish that goal.
Calli House: Emergency Shelter for Youth
The County Homeless Program opened the first homeless shelter for youth of its kind in April
2002. Since that time, youth shelter program has served over 400 youth ages 12 to 21. Youth over
the age of 18 reside at the West County Adult Interim Housing program and receive case
management and other services during the day at Calli House. Calli House provides a youth-
friendly environment with age-specific case management and other supportive services aimed at
assisting the youth to exit the streets.
