SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution #20145 to ESTABLISH the classifications of Mental Health Family
Services Coordinator (VQSJ- Unrepresented Management) ALLOCATE the classification to the salary
schedule, and ADD two (2) full-time positions.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost associated with this request is 195,540.16 and will be offset by elimination of the existing personal
services contract.
BACKGROUND:
In the past, the Mental Health Division has employed two individuals on a contract basis to provide family
advocacy services, including parent and/or family perspectives in the planning, service design, and evaluation
of mental health services. Instead of renewing contracts with the individuals to perform the duties associated
with these assignments, Mental Health is requesting to establish the classification of Mental Health Family
Services Coordinator and hire staff to perform administrative management functions that are ongoing and who
receive policy direction form a Mental Health Program Chief.
Overall, the Mental Health Family Services Coordinator classification is responsible for coordinating services
for parents and families of seriously emotionally disturb children and adolescents as well as providing services
for families of seriously mentally ill adults 18 years of age and older.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the Mental Health Division will continue to utilize contract employees for
their Child and Adolescent Services or Adult Services Program to meet the needs of their clients.
