BACKGROUND: The Clerk Recorder Department is requesting the addition of an Elections Services Technician position to perform the varied complex and technical duties in the Elections office. Elections are now becoming more and more technical in nature and are utilizing many different technology systems, therefore, this position is needed to handle the demands of the various systems and databases. The Election Services Technician is responsible for interpreting and applying the complex and technical Elections Codes in the course of their job duties which include consistently maintaining all Elections equipment (tally and ADA assistance equipment); using the GIS graphical interface to develop and maintain election precincts; and utilizing various specialized databases to capture and maintain candidate reporting and voter information. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved, the Clerk Recorder Department's ability to ensure elections systems accuracy and the maintenance of accurate candidate and voter information will be adversely impacted and may lead to election contamination.
