RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20173 adding one (1) permanent full-time Workforce
Services Specialist (XANA) position. (Unrepresented)
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of $4,212.00. This position is funded through
WIA funds and the redirection of contract funds.
BACKGROUND:
The Department is requesting this addition in order to fill a contract position that was vacated on
October 31, 2006. The Workforce Services Specialist will be housed in the Workforce Development
Bureau. The position will be responsible for the development and implementation of special projects
that are generated by community need and identification and ensuring successful implementation of
policies related to workforce development within Contra Costa County.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the Department is unable to add this position, the Workforce Development Bureau will not have
staff needed to coordinate and administer special projects targeted towards low-income populations,
geographic areas, and industry sectors.
