BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides a day treatment
program for preschoolers with measurable delays in interpersonal, social/emotional, language and
cognitive development or children who are at risk for such delays, including abused,
developmentally delayed, emotionally disturbed and environmentally deprived children who do
not meet the criteria for any categorical funding source for services.
On December 6, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #24-705-50 with
We Care Services for Children, for the period from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006, with a
six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2006, for the provision of mental health
services for high risk, delayed or emotionally disturbed children.
Approval of Novation Contract #24-705-51 replaces the automatic extension under the prior
Contract and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2007.
