RECOMMENDATION:
ADD one (1) Permanent Part-Time (20/40) Library Assistant-Journey Level (3KVB).
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total annual cost associated with this action is 100% funded from the Inmate Welfare
Fund.

BACKGROUND:
The Detention Library Services Program operates with three (3) positions: two (2) permanent
full-time and one (1) permanent-intermittent Librarians. These three positions provide library
services to three detention facilities. As a result of a recent service assessment 'of the
Detention Library Services, it was determined that staffing levels should be at two (2) full-time
Library Assistant Journey Level positions and one (1) 20/40 part-time position. The current
permanent-intermittent position is not providing adequate coverage needed to support Library
services to inmates.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Insufficient library support services to Custody Services Bureau-Inmate Library Services Unit.
