The construction cost estimate is S121.000. The general prevailing wage rates have been obtained and these shall be the minimum rates paid on this project. Upon the Board's authorization. the Clerk of the Board will publish a Notice to Contractors in accordance with Section 22037 of the Public Contract Code. inviting bids for the work. The Director i of General Services, or designee. will mail notices to the construction trade journals specified in Section 22036 of the Public Contract Code at least 30 days before the bid opening date. Attention is directed to Sections - 1.14, "Cooperation". of the State Standard Specifications and these special provisions. The General Contractor shall cooperate and coordinate as it may be required with contractors set forth in Section ;- 1.14 of the State Standard Specification. 1.03 TEMPORARY FENCING: Temporary fence shall be installed around the area(s) of Active Work;the adjacent library, parking area(s) and friends building shall remain open for public use as directed by the County Representative. I PART 2-TEMPORARY tiTILITIES 2.01 Light,Power and Rater: Water and Electricitv are available on the site for the contractors use. The Contractor shall install temporary lines as necessary to complete the work.Proposed temporary utility connections and lines � shall be reviewed and approved by the Count Representative.The temporary utility line installation. maintenance and removal shall be paid for by the Contractor. The County shall be responsible for payment of utility bills rendered from use of the on-site utilities by the Contractor for sole purpose of project related purposes. PART 3 .ACCESS AND FACILITIES � 3.01 Access: i Provide and maintain an adequate access to the site of the project. 3.02 Temporary Fencing: Contractor may at his option and expense erect a temporary chain link fence around four parking stalls within the existing parking lot for his own security. Location and limits of fencing shall be approved j by Count Representative at initial site meeting. Fence shall be a minimum 8'-0" in height and shall i have appropriate access gates. Fence shall have a good appearance. At completion of project(or sooner), Contractor shall remove fence from property with County permission. I 3.03 Sanitary Facilities: A. The Contractor shall provide temporary toilet facilities which may consist of portable chemical toilets. ?;umber of toilets shall be based on number of workers- 1 per 1-5 workers. � B. Toilet facilities shall be kept suppiied with toilet paper and be kept in a clean and sanitary condition until completion of the work and then be removed from the work site. Upon removal,that portion of the site shall be properly cleaned and graded. Following initial inspection. the Engineer will either prepare certificate of substantial completion, or advise Contractor of work which must be performed prior to issuance of certificate: and repeat inspection when requested and assured that work has been substantially completed. Trenching: 1. Die trench straight and support pipe continuously on bottom of trench. Lay pipe to an even grade. Trenching excavation shall follow layout shown on drawm2s. _'. Provide for a minimum of i8 inches corer for all pressure supply lines. =. Provide for a minimum cover of 12 inches for all non-pressure lines to spray heads. 4. Provide for a minimum corer of 18 inches for all control wiring. =. Provide a minimum corer of 24 inches over pipe and wiring under asphalt pavement. B. Backfilling: i. Do not back-fill trenches until all required tests are performed. Carefully backfill trenches with specified excavated materials for backfilling, consisting of earth. loam. sandy clay. sand. or other acceptable materials, free from lame clods of earth or stones. Backfill shall be mechanically compacted in landscaped areas to a dry density equal to adjacent undisturbed soil in planting areas. Backfill shall conform to adiacent grades without dips, sunken areas, humps or other surface irregularities. 2. Surround pipe with sand it.rocks-terrain with a 4"bed and 4" coyer. 3. Backfill in proposed asphalt pared areas shall have sand covering pipe with 6" minimum depth.. C. Pipe and Fitting Installation and Connections: 1. Install no multiple assemblies on plastic lines. Thoroughl clean PVC pipe and fittings of dirt, dust and moisture before installation. Installation and solvent welding methods shall be as recommended by the pipe and fitting manufacturer. i 4. On PVC to meal connections. the contractor shall work the metal connections first. Automatic Controller: 1. Locate controller in general location shown with exact placement to be determined at job site by the irrigation consultant or Owner's Representative. i 2. Connect control lines to controller in sequential arrangement according to ' assigned identification number on plans. I Controller shall be properly grounded per Article 250 of the rational Electric Code and conform to local regulations. i F. Remote Control Valves: Install where shown on drawings. When grouped together, allow at least 12 inches beween valves. Install each remote control valve in a separate valve box. Locate boxes i in groundcover areas whenever possible. and a minimum of 12 inches from paring or � curbs. G. Control Wiring: 1. flake connections between existing automatic controls and electrical control valves with direct burial copper wire. Common wires shall be white. Install in accordance with valve manufacturer's specifications and wire charts. 7. Wiring shall occupy the same trench and shall be installed along the same route as pressure supply- or lateral lines wherever possible. When not possible, house .Tiring in PVC conduit as described in"Sleeving and Conduit" section. 0. Where more than one wire is placed in a trench the wiring shall be taped together at intervals of 10 feet. I 4. Provide 2-foot expansion coil at each wire connection and a:least ever- 100 feet of wire length on runs more than 100 feet in length.
