Dear Supervisor Uilkerna,
The holiday giving season is almost here and Solaro bounty employees are m ng plans for various drives that
their separate departments hold.Last year's biggest fundraising drive for the wxployee's of Solaro County was the
Holiday food Drive County Cup Challenge, benefiting the Food Bank of Comm Costa and Solaro Counties.
This Challenge was initiated last year as a countywide effort by Contra Costa County and was very successful,

Solano County Superviz3ors and employees exe extending a challenge to Contm Costa County Supervisors and
loyees with the goal of surpassing lot year's figures. With receipt of this letfer,I bade that CCosta County
will fonnally accept the"2005 Counties Care Holiday Food Drive Challenge"through the Food Bank's`Buy a Bag"
program.
Each$5 contribution results in 15-pounds of food for hungry County residents who geed emergenfood.Fortynth
ree percent o#'Food Bank recipients am cbalc .Solato County will hold its drive November 14thorough
December 16d'.However if Contm Costa County chooses to define different boundary dates,we will be wiling to
work with hose botw&des-I recommend that the respective County AdministKatoes.Offices develop and agree
upon the dates.
I am enthusiastic about this program and look fbrward to a generous giving"Counties Cane Holiday Food Drive
