SUBJECT: Position Adjustment Resolution # 19980
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION : Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution # 19980 adding one Utilization Review
Coordinator in the Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT : The cost associated with this action is approximately $5,247 annually. A
Registered Nurse — Experienced Level position in the Mental Health Division was recently vacated.
The costs associated with that action, ($97,196 annually) were transferred to the Regional Medical
Center. The difference between the costs associated with the addition of the Utilization Review
Coordinator position ($102,443 annually) and the costs transferred to the Regional Medical Center
result in the net cost of$5,247 annually. There is sufficient funding in the Mental Health Division
budget to cover these additional costs.
BACKGROUND : This position is needed in the Mental Health Division to coordinate utilization and
case management activities for mental health clients in 24-hour acute inpatient settings. The
incumbent will perform clinical oriented medical chart reviews and other administrative activities to
meet the requirements of Division plans, policies, procedures, as well as State and Federal
regulations, insurance company requirements for reimbursement, and facility accreditation standards.
These duties were historically handled by two positions

continue to use a single Utilization Review Coordinator position to perform the duties of two positions.
