SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 19892 to RETITLE Lease Manager— Exempt
(DYD1)to Real Estate Manager— Exempt and REALLOCATE the salary downward from salary level
B85-2020 ($7,588.99 - $9,224.47) to B85-1871 ($6,548.06 - $7,959.20).
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is a cost savings associated with this action.
BACKGROUND:
The General Service Department has retitled the Lease Management Division to the Real Estate
Services Division due to the natural evolution of responsibilities that have been added to the division.
To reflect this change, the Lease Manager— Exempt should also be changed to Real Estate
Manager— Exempt to better reflect that position.
On March 31, 2004 the Lease Manger— Exempt position became vacant due to a retirement. As a
result, the Deputy General Services Director temporarily assumed the administration and
management of the Lease Management Division. The Deputy General Services Director cannot
continue these duties due to the multitude of other management duties he is responsible to perform.
Staff conducted an external salary survey and found that the current salary for this classification is
the highest out the comparable classification in neighboring counties. The proposed salary level is
4% below the mean of comparable classifications in neighboring counties, which is appropriate
considering the external marketplace as well as the job duties assigned to this classification
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to reallocate the salary downward will result in an inflated salary for the Real Estate
Manager— Exempt position. �
