RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF RESOLUTION NO. 2005/716
NAMING THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY COURTHOUSE
THE "HONORABLE WAKEFIELD TAYLOR COURT BUILDING"
WHEREAS, the Honorable Wakefield Taylor, Retired PresidingJustice of the California Vt District
Court of Appeal, died April 6, 2005, at the age of 93 years old; and
WHEREAS, Justice Taylor and his wife Carmel have been' residents of Martinez since 1939, where
they raised four children, all of whom attended and graduated from Martinez public schools; and
WHEREAS., Justice Taylor maintained a private law practice with the late Congressman John F.
aBaldwin in Martinez, when he was appointed to the Contra Costa County Superior Court by Governor
Earl Warren in 1951; and
WHEREAS, Justice Taylor was active in Martinez,:,community.oraanizations, including the John Muir

ADDENDUM TO ITEM SD.5
November 1, 2005
On this day,the Board of Supervisors considered adopting Resolution No.2005/716 to name the
Classic County Courthouse at 725 Court Street,Martinez,the"Justice Wakefield Taylor
Courthouse".
Chair Uilkema invited comment from the public.The following persons provided testimony in
support of naming the Class County Courthouse the"Justice Wakefield Taylor Courthouse":
Honorable Thomas Maddock,Presiding Judge,Contra Costa.County Superior Court
Thomas A. Watrous,Kiwanis Club of Martinez
Maury Huguet,Kiwanis Club of Martinez
Chair Uilkema made a motion, which was seconded by Supervisor Piepho, and by a unanimous
vote with none absent the Board of Supervisors took the following action:
APPROVED Resolution 2005/716 in support of naming the Contra Costa.County Courthouse,
located at 725 Court Street in Martinez,the"Justice Wakefield Taylor Courthouse."
