CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Local Planning Council for Child Care and Development has been established to support all of the five County community outcomes: Children Ready for and Succeeding in School; Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood; Families That are Economically Self-Sufficient; Families That are Safe, Stable and Nurturing; and Communities That are Safe and Provide High Quality of Life for Children and Families. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): The Contra Costa County Local Planning Council for Child Care and Development (LPC)was established in April 1998. Membership consists of the following: • Five consumer representatives - a parent or person who receives or has received child care services in the past 36 months; • Five child care providers- a person who provides child care services or represents persons who provide child care services; • Five public agency representatives - a person who represents a city, county, city and county, or local education agency; • Five community representatives - a person who represents an agency or business that provides private funding for child care services or who advocates for child care services through participation in civic or community based organizations; CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: YES SIGNAT E: -A 3ECOMMENDATION OF COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR ✓RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE /' sAPPROVE OTHER L� A& SIGNATURE(S): V F DERAL D. Appointments to the Contra Costa County Local Planning Council for Child Care and Development (LPC) are subject to the approval of the Board of Supervisors and County Superintendent of Schools. The Board of Supervisors designated the Family and Human Services Committee to review and recommend appointments on their behalf. The Family and Human Services Committee is recommending appointments to two vacant seats on the Council. Julia Medina-Haugh is recommended as a new appointment to the Child Care Provider 6 East County seat. Camilla Rand has held the Public Agency 1 West County seat being recommended for vacancy since her appointment July 13, 2004. She is being recommended for transfer to the Child Care Provider 2 West County seat. This vacancy is a result of her recommended transfer to the new seat. Sylvia Cabrales has resigned from the Council, creating a vacancy in the Consumer 5 East County seat.
