SUBJECT: Cand a� staeeRegulations Resolution N+ . 3 For the u ne 6, `' 006 Gubernatorial. rima and Cromer 7, 2006 General Eledi n WHEREASI flections Code 13307 provides that: Before.the nominating period opens, the local agency shall determine whether a charcie shall levied against the candidate for the candidate's statement sent to each voter; and WHEREAS,. that decis � ion shall not be revoked or modified after the seventh day prior to the opening of the nominatin period; and that a written statement of the regulations with respect to charges shall be provided t each candidate. NOW THEREFORE, THE Board of Supervisors RESOLVES the following: 1. Candidate statements for the Board of Supervisors and Superior Court Judge shall not exceed 250 words. . The format and structure of the candidate statements must comply with the 250 word maximum limit, fit within allc fte space+ �the appropriate f rrr ora idad the elactidr s i 1, d neat the fort sizes darkness and uniform spacing specifications as determined by the Elections Department. . Candidates for the above named offices who fila a statement shall be required to pay in advance to the Elections Department the estimated pro rata share as of the cost of preparing,producing,and distributing th a st tement as shown on the attached table, 4 such estimated advanced payment shall be made at the time of filing f the statement. The candidate shall be given wrlfteh notice that the estimate is dust an appy ximatic n of the actual cyst,which vales from t o election n fo an+ then election and may a s 9nificantly more or less than the estirr tet depending on the actual number of candidates filing st tements. Accordingly the elections official is not bound by the estimate and may, on a pro rata basis, bill the candidate for additional actual expenses or refund the excess paid depending on the final actual cost. 5.
