SHIU, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR Costa fl a DATE: January 18, 2005 —Count � Coun SUBJECT: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute a Consulting Services Agreement Amendment with Parsons Brinkerhoff Construction Services, Inc., for the Asbury Graphite Leachfield Phase 2 project, Rodeo area, Project No. 4660-6X4152 (District II) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director,or designee to execute a Consulting Services Agreement Amendment effective October 1, 2004 with Parsons Brinckerhoff Construction Services, Inc., to increase the payment limit by$15,000 to a new amount of$60,000 for subdivision inspection and construction management. FISCAL IMPACT: There will be no impact on the County General Fund. The original Consulting Services Agreement is for$45,000 and will be increased to a new total of$60,000 and shall be paid for by Contra Costa Transportation Authority Funds. The construction management services include construction engineering, project management, and construction inspection. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the Consultant Services Agreement Amendment with Parsons Brinckerhoff Construction Services, Inc., is not approved, it may not be possible to complete the work. AMENDMENT NO. 1 CONSULTING SERVICES AGREEMENT PROJECT NAME: Asbury Graphite Leachfield Phase 2 PROJECT NO.: 4660-6X4152 1. Parties: Effective on October 1, 2004, the Contra Costa County, a political subdivision of the State of California, hereinafter referred to as "Public Agency," and Parsons Brinckerhoff Construction Services, Inc., hereinafter referred to as "Consultant," mutually agree and promise as follows: 2. Purpose: The parties desire to amend the agreement they entered into effective May 1, 2004, entitled "Consulting Services Agreement," hereinafter referred to as the "Agreement." The Agreement is for providing construction management services including construction observation and contract administration (Resident Engineer Services) associated with the Asbury Graphite Leachfield Phase 2 Project. This Amendment provides for an increased pay limit due to the continued assistance required for construction inspection, and other field support, and increases the payment limit $15,000 for a new total of $60,000. . 3. Amendment(s) to Agreement: A. The Payment Limit, Item 1(e)of the existing Consulting Services Agreement is amended to now read $60,000. 4. Remaining Provisions: Except for the changes made by this Amendment, all provisions of the Agreement shall remain in full force and effect. 5.
