(.District II)Project No. 0662-6R1056 DATE: January 4, 2005 PAGE: 2 of 2 REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND: Additional funding is needed to pay the contractor for extra work that was not part of the original contract and for increases in the contract work. The increases in contract work are a result of the utility companies adding additional trench and conduit. The additional work costs exceed the project contingency fund. Approval of the increase of the project contingency fund is required to compensate the contractor for additional work. The utility companies will reimburse the County for the increased costs. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would prevent successful completion of this contract and preclude payment to the contractor for required work. The entire project length is approximately 3,900 feet with road widths of up to approximately 33 feet. The project consists of removing and replacing road barriers;adjusting utilities,mailboxes,monuments,manholes, and drainage inlets; conforming roadway and driveways; AC pavement grinding; crack sealing; reconstructing portions of roadway; installing striping,pavement markings, pavement reinforcement fabric, an asphalt concrete overlay,and possibly ADA(Americans with Disabilities Act)curb, gutter,and sidewalk.
