SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT FOR CONTRACTED
SECURITY GUARD SERVICES.
Specific Request(S)or Recommendation (S) & Background and Justification
RECOMMENDATION (S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the General Services Director, or designee, to
execute a contract amendment with Guardian Security Agency to increase the
payment limit by $78,000 to a new payment limit of $333,000 and to extend the
term from December 1, 2005, to December 31, 2006 for the provision of
contracted security guard services for the Community Service Department's
childcare centers.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This contract is funded through a combination of Federal Head Start and State
Child Development funds. Funding is currently included in the Community
Services Department's FY 2005-06 Budget and will be added to the FY 2006-07
Budget. There is no net County cost to this contract.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Department supports two of Contra Costa County's
community outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School" and
"Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by
offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, health, and social services, along with a strong parent involvement focus,
to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County. The overall goal of the
program is to bring about a greater degree of social competence in preschool
children from low-income families.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
The General Services Department currently has in place a Purchase Order
(#06035) for the period of January 1, 2004, through November 30, 2005 in the
amount of $255,000.00 for Guardian Security to provide security guard services
for the Department. This amendment will extend the current Purchase Order
through December 31, 2006 to a new total of $333,000.
