SUBJECT: CONTRACT AMENDMENT WITH THE FOOD BANK OF CONTRA COSTA
AND SOLANO
Specific Request(S)or Recommendation (S) & Background and Justification
RECOMMENDATION (S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Community Services Director, or designee, to execute a
contract amendment with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano to increase the payment
limit by $20,000 to a new payment limit of$40,000 for emergency food services with no
change in the term.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost of this amendment is funded by the Department's Community Services Block Grant
program and is included in the Community Services Department's FY 2005-2006 Budget.
There is no net County cost to this contract.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Department supports two of Contra Costa County's community
outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School" and "Families that are Safe,
Stable and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services,
including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-
income children throughout Contra Costa County.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONSBACKGROUND:
The Department has identified projected unspent funds in the 2005 Community Services
Block Grant that could be used for provide additional emergency food for program eligible
individuals and families this winter. This proposed amendment adds $20,000 to the current
contract which will enable the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano to purchase and
distribute additional emergency food for program eligible County residents.
