COSTA DATE: December 20, 2005 COUNTY SUBJECT: position Adjustment Resolution No. 20019 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)8 BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20019 to ADD one (1) Social Services Staff Development Specialist (X4SK) position; CANCEL one (1) Social Services Program Analyst position # 5045. FISCAL IMPACT: Total annual cost associated with this action is $108,756; $54,378 for fiscal year 2005/06. Salary costs will be offset by the cancellation of the Social Services Program Analyst position. BACKGROUND: This action is being requested by the Director of EHSD due to an increase in training requirements resulting from retirements, promotions and the general influx of workforce into entry level positions. The position will be assigned to the Staff Development Unit and provide training to the CalWORKS, Food Stamps, Welfare to Work and other eligibility programs. Additionally, the department has ongoing training requirements for internal experienced staff as a result of State and Federal changes in programs. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Inadequate training staff to support the Staff Development Unit for required EHSD programs and ongoing training requirements for internal staff as a result of State and Federal changes in programs.
