SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION : Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution # 19988 adding one Health Services
Information Systems Programmer/Analyst position in the Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT : The cost associated with this action is approximately $128,601 annually.
Through cancellation of contract # 23 355($160,000) there will be a revenue. offset.
BACKGROUND : This position is needed in the Information Systems (IS) Unit. The IS Unit has
responsibility for the development, installation, and maintenance of the software applications for the
Health Services Department. Currently duties of this position are being performed by a contract
employee. Duties of this position include:
o Creating software products
o Installation and maintenance of software applications
o Creating test data and performing testing and quality assurance procedures to ensure
expected results
o Meeting with prospective users
o Providing training and technical assistance to software users
RESULT OF NEGATIVE ACTION : If the position is not added, the IS Unit of the Health Services
Department will be forced to continue to staff the position with a contract employee, detracting from
the stability of the division.
