RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 19937, retitling Deputy Director of Environmental
Health-Hazardous Materials (VCDE) to Assistant Director of Hazardous Materials Programs and
reallocating the salary of Assistant Director of Hazardous Materials Programs
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no cost associated with these actions.
BACKGROUND:
The Department requests the retitling of Deputy Director of Environmental Health-Hazardous
Materials (VCDE) to Assistant Director,of Hazardous Materials Programs to correctly represent the
duties of the position. This classification will assist the Director of Hazardous Materials Programs
with the day-to-day operations of the di vision.
The request to decrease the salary is to eliminate the current compaction between the two
classifications. Currently, the salary range for Director of Hazardous Materials Programs and Deputy
Director of Environmental Health-Hazardous Materials are identical at $7,403.44-$8,988,93. The i
reallocation will create a 7.28% salary gap between to respective classifications.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE AC iriON:
The consequence of negative action i ill result in the inability of the Department to effectively recruit
and correctly compensate the/vacant position.
